Hiking Camelback Mountain on Christmas Eve

Mandy planned this hike for us on Christmas Eve. It was a great experience with Mandy and Shawna. It was a bit challenging for me...especially watching Mandy going up like a pro! She left me in the dust...

I should have known I was in over my head
when we came upon this at the beginning of the hike.

Mandy was never even breathing hard...the most
challenging part for her was waiting for me...

Luckily Shawna distracted me at this moment...
I don't care for heights too much and smiling
for the picture took my mind off the view down.

Christmas songs. It was a great feeling at the
top of the mountain.

Back To Cincinnati

Our trial in Cleveland went away so I went back to
the Lakehouse and then back to Cincinnati. It was great
to be able to relax, read and spend time with the grandkids
and of course their parents too;-) Jim went back to Arizona
so it was just Jimmy and myself left visiting.

As Jim and I left Tennessee for a trial in Cleveland,
Ashley, and Chelsea arrived. They were able to go
to Gatlinburg.

Dana Point Mini Vacation

We escaped the Arizona summer for a few days in Dana Point.

Jim is great with posing and taking the picture at the same time.

Jimmy took his friend Ty and they had a great time.
They especially loved room service!

We were also able to have a short visit with Misty,
Brian and the kids.They had been vacationing at
Carlsbad so they came to see us on their way back home.

Well for the first time ever, we were able to have family pictures taken with ALL nine kids and all eleven grandkids (one on the way)...Wow! We were only missing one son-in-law, Brian (Misty's husband). We truly missed him! It was great fun but not enough visiting time!

The Zoo is our favorite place to go when the weather is nice. We went for the opening of the Komodo Dragons exhibit. We had a great day. Jimmy was a big help and I'm sure that Mandy enjoyed the break!

Birthday Fun and Phantom

Jim, Myself, Chelsea and Pam went to see Phantom of the Opera at the ASU Gammage Theatre. We had wonderful seats and a great time with lunch first.

A Month at Grandma's

AnnaGrace and Bella came for a whole month this year. They had lots of fun playing with their cousins and our new puppy. Hopefully, we are creating lots of fun memories for them. I'm definitely getting older because I'm TIRED!!! It was great fun though!

Once again we were able to go to San Clemente for our annual beach vacation. We love the great walking/jogging path and I especially love the hills since we don't have any in Gilbert!

We all went to Disneyland for the day. Ashley has a season pass so she is trying to get her money's worth. Ashley is the only one who could keep up with me. I love Disneyland!

Chelsea's High School Graduation 2009

It's official! Chelsea is now a High School Graduate! Last year on graduation night, for the first time in history, the Gilbert High Schools graduations were rained out. This year...it rained again! We all sat under umbrellas as it rained through the entire ceremony! At least the temperature was nice. We all went out to dinner after. It was a great night!

Chelsea was awarded the ASU's Provost Scholarship and accepted into the nursing program. She would still like to pursue music so she has some decisions to make. We are very proud of all her accomplishments!

Chelsea's baccalaureate was really wonderful. The choir, which Chelsea sings in, sang "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing". It was amazing! It brought everybody to their feet and many to tears. They were accompanied by the orchestra. The teacher speech was excellent also. It was truly inspirational! We feel fortunate to live in such a great area!

We, or I should say Chelsea, decided to throw a graduation party. She posted it on her facebook so I was really afraid of the crowd. It turned out wonderful. No one got hurt, everyone had fun and we had enough food to feed the masses! It doesn't get much better than that! I was very impressed with the kids! Our future looks bright with them!

We decided (or I should say that I decided) to enter the family in the first annual 5K at the Zoo. We were "Team Stretchy Pants". Jimmy chose the name from one of his favorite movies to quote "Nacho Libre". We recruited Justin for the day!

Grandpa Hoy passed away on Mar 30

We are very sad at the passing of Jim's dad. He was 83 and has left a great posterity who loved him dearly. We can rejoice that he no longer has to suffer the pains of his physical body. We had a wonderful gathering of friends and family at a memorial service on March 31. It's always great to visit friends and family that you haven't seen for awhile.

A Carlsbad Marathon Getaway!

Well, if you've read Mandy's blog, you'll see that she beat me to this post along with taking all the good pictures that I was going to use! Anyway, this last weekend we had a girls getaway...kind of. Mandy and Chelsea got to show off there running skills in their marathon races while I got to show my marathon driving skills by doing all of it, including being the shuttle bus for the runners! I have to admit...my job was easier...just put it in drive and go! They both did fantastic, Mandy in the marathon and Chelsea in the 1/2 marathon. Wow! What a great accomplishment!

Post Christmas at the Cabin

The last few years we've been at the cabin in Pinetop for Christmas but this year we went up a couple days after. It worked out well because they had a huge snowfall before we got up there. It was sunny the entire time we were there and with the new fallen snow it was beautiful. It was the most snow that I had ever seen up there, especially the drive up. I'm glad that Jim was driving. Chelsea drove behind with some friends and Jimmy and his friend rode with us. We had a very nice time. Everytime we're there, we wonder why we don't go up more often and enjoy it.

Ok...so now that I've learned a little more about setting up blogs, I realized that I've done it wrong. But for now, I'm just leaving it the way it is. I figure I can change it when I have hours and hours of spare time (which probably means never). I'm just putting up our highlights of 2008 and then maybe in 2009, I'll blog like a normal blogger! My daughter Mandy was my inspiration for starting a family blog. I love to look at her family blog and see what is happening. It's surprising that I live only a mile away and still get that excited! I hope that some of our family members will enjoy what is happening in the Hoy family.
