Our favorite family vacations are always at the beach in California. This was taken outside of our favorite resort to stay at. It is right across from the pier. We went in April for a week and we were able to attend Andrea's Wedding at the San Diego Temple at the end of our vacation.

Harry Potter Trial in NYC

One of the highlights of the year was the Harry Potter copyright infringement case that Jim did in NYC. Of course I had to tag along on that one. It was so fun to see and hear JK (Joanna Katherine) Rowling testify and talk about her characters, settings, etc. Just to hear her say Daigon Alley was a thrill. She is so passionate about her writing. She told of what a struggle it was when she was writing the first book, and she had to decide whether to buy food for her and her daughter or buy typewriter ribbon. She typed it all on a typewriter single spaced and the publishers told her she needed to retype it but doublespaced! She said it is lucky that she is a fast typist. It was really amazing!

Lake Seneca Family Reunion June 2008

We were able to go to the wonderful Family Reunion that the great Showalters planned at Lake Seneca. It was a great trip and fun to see lots of extended family members that we haven't seen for a long time.

This was absolutely beautiful. It looked like something out of a movie set. We hiked up through the canyon and waterfalls to this park at the top. That's why we all look a little hot and tired.

The Peter Witmer Farm

This is one of my favorite sites to see. We had the sweetest sister missionaries there. It was fun to have so many of the family all touring the same sites at the same time. We kept meeting up with each other even though it was really not planned that way.

We had to stay on the American side of the falls because I forgot our passports but it was still beautiful.

Summer at the Katz Family Lake House

After the reunion in New York, we drove down through Kirtland and then stayed at our dear friends, the Rozmans, in Strongsville. After a wonderful visit with them, we were off to Shawna's home in Cincinnati. We didn't stay long in Cinci because we were off to Shawna's lakehouse in Tennessee. We always have a great time with the Katz family. Shawna is the best host and best cook. Of course, Grandma loves to see her AnnaGrace and Bella Boo and of course Cameron too!

Washington DC

Jim had a trial in Washington DC so Jimmy and I tagged along. Jim was staying at a beautiful hotel right by the White House so Jimmy and I went sightseeing in the summer heat and humidity. We spent most of our time inside all of the different Smithsonian Museums, while Jim spent most of his time in a courtroom. The Space Museum was Jimmy's favorite. I loved the Art Museum but didn't get to spend much time there because Jimmy wasn't very interested in Rembrandt!

The last time I saw the Lincoln Monument was when I was six years old. Lincoln wasn't as big as I remembered him.

Cleveland in November

For the third straight year, Jim and I have spent November in Cleveland doing welding rod litigation. At least, we've made some wonderful friends so it makes it tolerable.

After saving for a long time and with Christmas coming Chelsea decided that the time had finally come for her to get her own laptop. We have been having a lot of fun with photo booth taking pictures. Here is one of the only semi-normal ones.
